persistent Orlando TV reporter finally got one of the 6 witnesses to the Trayvon Martin killing to sit down for an on-camera interview, which aired yesterday eliciting a rebuttal from police. Mary Cutcher, the witness, blasted the handling of the investigation by the Sanford police, in her interview with WFTV reporter, Daralene Jones. Cutcher said police hastily interviewed her and declined to record more of her observations until she harassed them.

“I said, ‘I know this was not self-defense. There was no punching, no hitting going on at the time, no wrestling,’” Cutcher said.

Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Morgenstern disputed Cutcher’s claims about their investigation, according to the Orlando Sentinel. In a statement issued Thursday, he called Cutcher’s claims “inconsistent with her sworn testimony to police.”

“Actually officers who were canvassing the neighborhood looking for potential witnesses, the evening of the shooting, contacted her and she said she did not want to get involved,” Morgenstern said.

The Mary Cutcher interview was one of the first of a witness. But more are stepping forward to talk, including this 13-year-old African-American male witness, who spoke to the Sentinel about what he saw. Austin Brown says he thinks about what would have happened if he’d inserted himself into the conflict and tried to stop it.

Meanwhile, George Zimmerman’s father sent the Sentinel a letter defending his son, saying he is Hispanic and not a racist.   ”At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin. When the true details of the event became public, and I hope that will be soon,” the letter said, “everyone should be outraged by the treatment of George Zimmerman in the media.”

He did follow, stalk, confront, and hunt Trayvon down. I am a mother to a son & I am disgusted that he is still walking free. This was somebody’s child that did nothing wrong. He was begging for someone to help him. How do you defend yourself against a can of iced tea and a bag of skittles?? Please government, fix the errors in your ways. I am scared for my child to grow up in the world as it is right now. To know that it is possible in the year 2012 for a child to be stalked, hunted down, and murdered for walking in their neighborhood because they are black is ridiculous. Its getting to the point that I understand now why there was a Noah’s Ark and flood. God didn’t create people to be this way.

The true is already out Zimmerman stalked, harassed and murdered that child. That murderer should be behind bar and that chief of police should be out of a job.
